NABL Cap Accredited
The Heinz Bodies test detects abnormal intracellular inclusions in red blood cells caused by oxidative damage to hemoglobin. It is useful in diagnosing conditions such as G6PD deficiency, hemolytic anemia, unstable hemoglobin disorders, and oxidative drug or toxin exposure. A peripheral blood smear prepared from EDTA anticoagulated blood is examined microscopically after special staining. Identification of Heinz bodies helps assess hemolysis severity and guide further clinical evaluation

When is this test usually recommended?
